How close is AI to the threshold?

Q16 measures the trajectory toward advanced AI with the Singularity Index, and monitors how the labs building it handle your data with Frontier Watch.

The measure

One number for the distance left to close.

0.37
of Ω = 1.00 · assessed 2026-06-22
Preliminary Q16 estimate — pending the inaugural expert panel.
Ω = 1.0

An expert-panel assessment of how far AI has closed the gap to the superintelligence threshold, on a 0.0–1.0 scale. Frontier Watch tracks new capability signals continuously; the panel revises the score when they warrant it. A score is read as distance closed — 0.4 means 40% of the way.

The Youth Signal — what the front line sees.

A standing panel of high-school students who use these tools every day, read on the same axis as the expert index. Two takes on one frontier: the experts’ judgment, and the people already living inside it.

Expert SI — live (preliminary) Youth Signal — in formation

Tracked as a parallel leading indicator, never blended with the expert score. Launching soon.

The mission

Transparency is the product.

Q16 is structured as a public benefit corporation because the baseline read — where capability stands and how labs handle data — should be public. The core readings are free; depth and timing are what members pay for.
